Singapore may be a small country but it is not lacking of amazing things to do during your next trip. From strolling through the futuristic Gardens by the Bay to exploring the colorful streets of Chinatown and Little India, every corner of the city offers something unique. Be sure you watch Crazy Rich Asians before you come here so you can fully embrace the vibe. Here’s a list of the best things to do in Singapore – all of which can be worked into a short or long itinerary.

Where to Stay in Singapore
A couple things on this list of things to do in Singapore require (or are much easier) if you are staying at the Marina Bay Sands – this is easily the most iconic hotel in Singapore and where we stayed when we visited. It’s not cheap but if you can swing the cost, this is an unforgettable property giving you access to one of the best views in all of Singapore.
If the Marina Bay Sands is a little too out of reach for you (and I totally get it – I’ve never splurged so much on accommodations before) there are some other amazing options as well. Be sure to stay in the downtown area so you are a close to everything – we love the Marina Bay and Clarke Quay areas. Bonus points for accommodations close to the metro!
Here are a few of our other favorite accommodation options in Singapore:
- The Clan Hotel Singapore
- PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay
- The Fullerton Hotel
- Paradox Singapore Merchant Court at Clarke Quay
1. Relax at the Top of The Marina Bay Sands
The Marina Bay Sands is the iconic hotel you think of when you see images of Singapore – three giant piers with the boat on top. If you can swing it, I think this is the best place to stay in Singapore. It is a magical way to experience this beautiful city. At the top of the hotel, you’ll find an infinity pool (for hotel guests only) where you can eat, relax and take in the amazing views of the city from 57 stories in the sky.
Tip: Wake up early and get to the pool as soon as it opens (6 AM). Chairs are first come first served and you’ll be able to snag some awesome seats if you get up early. We got up before the sun and snagged some of the best seats at the pool. Not mad about taking in the sunrise poolside.

If you aren’t staying at the Marina Bay Sands, you can still visit the top of the hotel and take in the amazing views by purchasing tickets to visit the SkyPark Observation Deck. This ticket gives you access to one side of the top level of the Marina Bay Sands.
2. Visit the Cloud Forest + Flower Dome
Head over to the Gardens by the Bay and wander through a forest enclosed in a glass dome. Inside the dome you’ll find a 35-meter high waterfall among rare plants from around the globe. Take the treetop walkway and cloud walk up to the top and see the entire forest from above.

By purchasing a day ticket you’ll have access to the cloud forest and flower dome. Plan to spend at least a couple of hours here as there is a lot to see. Note this ticket does not include the suspended walk way through the supertree grove. You can purchase OCBC Skyway Tickets at the ticketing hub on-site.
3. See the Light Show at the Supergrove Trees
If you time things right, you can see the Garden Rhapsody light show right after you visit the cloud forest as they are right next to each other. This light show is a really fun experience and one of the top things to do in Singapore. Lights on the trees will dance to a selection of music giving USA crazy Christmas decoration vibes. There are two showtimes each night: one at 7:45 p.m. and again at 8:45 p.m. The show is free to everyone.

The Supergrove Trees are also fun to see during the day, especially if you’re interested in doing the skyway walk. Wander through the beautifully large, colored trees from below and marvel at their size and beauty. There is really nothing quite like these trees anywhere else. Then, head to the top of the trees for a different perspective from the OCBC Skyway. This walkway is suspended between two trees and provide amazing views of the Gardens by the Bay.
4. Explore China Town – Especially at Night
Chinatown is a bustling area known for its amazing street food, gorgeous temples and shopping locations. We loved our visit in the evening when we could foodie it up at the hawker stalls with mind-blowing street food.
For a really fun food experience, consider booking a food tour with tastings lead by a local. Here are a few of my favorite food tour options in Singapore.
5. Wander Through Little India
One of the best things about Singapore is the cultural melting pot you’ll find all in one area. Wander through Little India for colorful streets, vibrant street art, and bustling markets.

If you prefer being guided with a local who can show you the best stops and give you more information, consider booking a walking tour that takes you through areas like Little India and Chinatown.
6. Make a Trip to Sentosa Island
Venture to the southern tip of Singapore and visit Sentosa Island. Here you’ll have a number of activities to choose from – make your way across the rope bridge to the southernmost point of continental Asia, relax at Palawan beach or adventure through Universal Studios. Sentosa Island is a fun break from the city vibes of downtown Singapore and there are so many things to do, everyone can find something they enjoy.

7. Take a Break for High Tea
If you love a good food experience, Singapore is a great place to experience a British inspired high-tea (afternoon tea) complete with endless tea, small appetizers and delicate pastries/desserts. What better place for such a luxurious experience than in Singapore. This is such a popular thing to do in Singapore that you will find many different options for high-tea. We loved our experience having high-tea at the Marina Bay Sands Renku Bar but some other highly rated options include:
- The Landing Point at The Fullerton Bay Hotel – Check seasonal availability
- Skai Restaurant at Swissôtel The Stamford – The highest restaurant in Singapore
- The Grand Lobby at Raffles Singapore
8. Experience Nightlife at Clarke Quay
Head over to the river and experience the nightlife at Clarke Quay – one of Singapore’s liveliest spots after dark. Here you’ll find a mix of riverside views, food, drinks and nightly entertainment. Whether you’re looking for a relaxed/scenic experience or more of a party vibe, there are many options to choose from such as taking a river cruise, visiting a fun bar for drinks, or grabbing dinner at one of the local restaurants or a nearby hawker stall.

When to Visit Singapore
The best time to visit Singapore is February through April when you’ll experience the most sunshine and least humidity. This makes for the best sightseeing weather for things to do in Singapore. Note that rainy season is November through January leading to the wettest months for visiting Singapore. Also, be mindful of events that will drive crowds and prices such as the Formula 1 Grand Prix held in Singapore every September.
